Students and teachers of 4th Grade helped give the butterfly gardens a new look by weeding, pulling out old, overgrown plants, and replacing with new plants and mulch donated by Miller Logging. The gardens also received two birdhouses built, donated, and installed by Bruce Novak, assisted by his 4th grade grandson, Jarrett.

DCSD District Battle of the Books
District Battle competition on May 20 at Bryant Elementary School. The first place team from Table Mound competed in the District battle and the second place team attended as alternates. Congratulations to the Bryant team for winning this year, and to all of the competitors for a great battle!

2016 Clarke University Human Body Bee
5th Grade Students from Table Mound attended the 2016 Clarke University Human Body Bee. Table Mound took 1st Place!!
Computer Programming in the Pre-K Classroom
Students in the Pre-K classroom are learning to program Bee Bot, a bee-shaped robot, to move to a destination and return to the starting point. Watch the fun!
Table Mound Battle of the Books
On Friday, April 29th, six teams of students participated in the 7th Annual Table Mound Battle of the Books. Students formed teams of five, then read and often re-read the 2016 Iowa Childrens’ Choice Books (twenty books in total this year). They memorized book titles, authors, and details about each book such as setting, characters, and events. On Friday, they competed against each other using their knowledge to determine a winning team that will go on to compete against other teams in the district battle. The District Battle will take place at Bryant Elementary this year on Friday, May 20th.
Congratulations to all participants! Good luck to our winning team, “The Magical Magestic Yellow Readers”, as they proceed to the District Battle. They will be accompanied by the 2nd Place team, “The Reading Warriors”, to cheer them on.
Week of the Young Child 2016
Students in Pre-K and Kindergarten celebrated the Week of the Young Child April 10-16 with guest readers and fun activities.

Read! Read! Read! with Bob Kamm
Artist in Residence, Bob Kamm, came to Table Mound on Tuesday, April 5th, 2016, to present his Read! Read! Read! program to students and staff. The Artist in Residence Program is brought into the schools by the Dubuque Arts Council.
